Caminito del Rey

October 30, 08:00

Enjoy spectacular scenery from the King’s pathway. Once considered one of the most dangerous footpaths in the world, the old Caminito del Rey was closed to protect the public. The new Caminito provides the same spectacular scenery minus the risk to life and limb. The original pathway, completed in 1905, was for workers at the El Chorro (the spout) hydroelectric plants to negotiate the deep ravine and cross the Guadalhorce River. As it fell further into disrepair it became a challenge for daredevils who risked falls up to 350 m from the narrow, unprotected path leading to its infamy and eventual closure in 2000.
