Hello and welcome to the June edition of Soltalk. So summer is here and we have the biggest fiesta of the year to look forward to – San Juan on June 23. If you will be on the beach at midnight have lots of fun and enjoy. I will never forget my first San Juan in 2000 when we went for a quick dip on Playa Salon at midnight but the water was so warm we stayed in for at least half an hour!

Speaking of beaches have you heard about the Weekend Beach festival in July at Torre del Mar? Information on all the amazing acts can be found here, and find out how YOU could be the lucky winner of two FREE tickets valued at €60 each.

The end of this month sees the beginning of the 60th International Festival of Music and Dance at Nerja Caves! 60 years! For more information see our What’s On section. The festival will run until August 3.

For many people here both Spanish and foreign resident, June and September are favourite months as the weather is gorgeous and not usually too hot, and there are visitors here but not in huge numbers. Some days you can still park your car too, bonus!

On Friday June 14 it’s time to say happy 17th birthday to Irish Annie’s Bar! They will of course be doing something extra special all day to celebrate – for details visit their Facebook page. Everyone will be welcome to join in the celebrations, new and old customers alike. Happy birthday from all of us at Soltalk!

If I was going to mention politics in this column. I was going to say something witty like the end of May came early last month… but then I decided not to mention politics at all! Of course we have all our regular news and features for you this month, lots to read whilst you relax for a few hours on the beach or sip a refreshing drink in your favourite bar.

So it only remains to wish you all a great June – we hope you enjoy this issue!
