Hello and welcome to the May edition of Soltalk. Normally our cover would be depicting last year’s San Isidro procession and we would be getting excited for this year’s Romeria but to be honest I can’t imagine it will happen. Just one more thing to look forward to when we have managed to defeat Covid.
Still with the vaccine being rolled out around the world and the warmer weather coming for the northern hemisphere we should at least look forward to some improvements. Even the poor residents of the UK have finally been allowed back to the pub, only outside mind you but it’s a start!
So fingers crossed that an announcement will be made this month regarding UK residents and foreign travel. I am sure many Spanish towns like Nerja will be very glad to have some more visitors and I am sure the visitors will be very pleased to come. As long as we all remain vigilant and socially distanced it should be possible.
According to the BBC a new traffic light system will be introduced in early May for the UK. Countries will be in one of three categories:
Green: Passengers will not need to quarantine on return, but must take a pre-departure test, as well as a PCR Covid test on return;
Amber: Travellers will need to quarantine for 10 days, as well as taking a pre-departure test and two tests on return;
Red: Passengers will have to pay for a 10-day stay in a managed quarantine hotel, as well as a pre-departure test and two tests.
Please stay Green Spain! Whatever happens, we hope you enjoy May and please, enjoy this issue!
