Here in Nerja, tapas is still widely available but there are variations on how it is served and what it will cost. The tapas on offer can vary with some bars specialising in a particular type of tapas, (eg. fish and seafood or meat-based offerings.) Others will offer a combination.
Some bars still offer free tapas with each drink but only when you are seated at the bar whilst others will make a small charge and allow you to sit elsewhere. Some bars now offer “gastro tapas” and charge accordingly and some may offer raciones which are bigger portions and again the cost reflects this.
Not all bars automatically offer you tapas with each drink but do ask for it. You will not offend.
